Tainted cocaine linked to life-threatening illnesses

Three drug users in King County have developed life-threatening infections after using cocaine contaminated with a pharmaceutical drug called levamisole that can destroy white blood cells, Public Health – Seattle & King County officials announced Thursday.
Without a sufficient number of white blood cells the body is vulnerable to rapidly developing, overwhelming infections.
