Light-rail trains can sneak up on you, warns Sound Transit

Seattle’s new electric light-rail trains are “fast, frequent and quiet” so exercise extra caution when you are near or crossing the light-rail tracks, warns Sound Transit.

The trains are already out on the tracks conducting test runs. Regular service from Tukwila to Westlake Station begins July 18th

Some of the reasons light rail trains can be so dangerous:

• Light rail trains are fast, frequent and quiet
• Light rail trains run often on any track, in any direction, at any time.
• Trains move faster than they appear.
• Trains can’t stop as quickly as a car.
• Trains don’t have steering wheels, they can’t swerve out of your way.
• Trains are very quiet.
