Finding health insurance in Washington state
If you are looking for health insurance, the best place to start is at the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner’s website where you can find step-by-step guidance on how to find a plan.
The Commissioner’s Office also sponsors SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) hotline, which is staffed by expert volunteers who can help answer your questions “about Medicare, Medigap coverage, employment-related health benefits, managed care, fraud and abuse questions, long-term care options, and more.” You can reach them online or by phone at 1-800-562-6900.
Another resource is Healthcare.gov, which has an interactive program that will lead you through the options available and allow you to compare prices of different plans.

The five largest insurers in the state are Regence BlueShield, Premera BlueCross, Group Health Cooperative, Molina Healthcare of Washington, and United Healthcare Insurance. Contact information for these and some of the other health insurance companies offering coverage in the state is below.
