#Twitter chat about health insurance for college grads – June 17th

Unless Washington graduates enroll in health coverage within 60 days of losing their student health plan, their next opportunity to enroll in health coverage is Nov. 15, 2014 for coverage beginning in 2015.

To help college grads explore their health insurance options, the Washington state health insurance exchange, Washington Healthplanfinder, will host a Twiter chat with Young Invincibles, a national organization that seeks to give young adults a bigger voice in national affairs.

Window is Closing for Washington Grads Who Lost Student Health Plans to Get Covered

WHAT:   

Washington Healthplanfinder is partnering with the national nonprofit Young Invincibles to host a graduation-focused Twitter chat for college students who have lost their student health plans and have questions about getting covered.

A panel of experts will answer questions on @waplanfinder that they receive on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #GetCoverdGrads.

Losing a student health plan qualifies new graduates for a 60-day Special Enrollment period throughwww.wahealthplanfinder.org.

Experts will help graduates understand what types of plans may be right for them and how to access financial help to afford coverage.

Unless Washington graduates enroll in health coverage within 60 days of losing their student health plan, their next opportunity to enroll in health coverage is Nov. 15, 2014 for coverage beginning in 2015.

Other life events that allow Washingtonians to qualify for a Special Enrollment period include those who have moved to a new coverage area, had a baby or are getting married, as outlined in a report by Young Invincibles. Recent health data shows one out of every four young adults in Washington State lack health insurance.
