Group Health Cooperative ranked highest in member satisfaction in the Northwest, according to a study by the marketing research firm J.D. Power and Associates.

The study looked at satisfaction of members of 11 major health plans in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Ranking was based on seven factors: coverage and benefits, provider choice, information and communications, claims processing, staements, customer service, and the approval process.

Group Health Cooperative achieved a score of 744 on a 1,000-point scale.

Providence Health Plan came in a close second with 739. Kaiser Family Foundation Health Plan was third with a score of 724.

Group Health performed particularly well in the area of coverage and benefits, information and communications, and claims processing, the firm said.

Aetna, UnitedHealthCare, Regence BlueShield of Idaho, Blue Cross of Idaho and ODS Health Plans were all ranked below the region’s average of 699.

That average was lower than the national average of 701.
