| February 5, 2010

Swedish Health Services plans to open an ambulatory care and emergency room facility in Redmond by the end of the year.

The facility will include an ER with 18 exam rooms, advanced diagnostic imaging and on-site laboratory services, as well as primary and specialty care offices.

The new facility will be modeled after the free-standing ER Swedish opened in Issaquah in 2005 and will be open be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Patients needing hospitalization will be admitted directly to the hospital, without needing to register or requiring a second ER evaluation when they arrive.

Swedish estimates the ER alone will see 20,000 patients a year.

According to plans now under review by the City of Redmond, the facility will be located 18100 Union Hill Road, next to the Microsoft campus.

When completed 130 full-time staff will work at the facility.

Mahlum Architects and Panattoni Construction have been selected to design and construct the building.
