Ironically, one of the largest groups impacted by this will be the very union workers who campaigned so zealously for Obama. In a depressed economy, they'll find themselves paying far more for medical care. No bad deed goes unpunished.

I might add that these 'Cadillac plans' are one of the reasons why hospitals are able to care for those without insurance. The profits hospitals make on them fund the care of those who can't pay. The real impact of this ugly tax will be to strain hospital finances still more and reduce the quality of care they can provide the poor.

The article doesn't mention the very lush health insurance plans provided to federal employees, especially members of Congress. Is the government going to tax those plans or perhaps cut their benefits down to the level of the average American? I suspect not. Congress never imposes on itself the burdens it places on others.
