Red Cross ThumbThe American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help staff shelters should there been significant flooding in the Green River Valley this fall and winter.

Volunteers for the Red Cross’ ReserveCorp need to be trained now so they will be ready to respond during flood season, the American Red Cross said in an call for volunteers issued today.

“We are looking for volunteer shelter workers for larger scale disaster responses because we know that there is a higher risk for flooding in the Green River Valley this year,” said Ivy Davis Zolle, volunteer manager for Red Cross in King & Kitsap Counties.

Volunteers must submit an online application before attending the free, day-long shelter training. A free background check will be part of the training

ReserveCorps shelter classes will be held on October 17 and November 14, 2009.
