Swedish breaks ground on new ER and outpatient building in Ballard

Swedish Medical Center held a ceremonial ground-breaking ceremony today of a new Emergency Department and Outpatient Center in Ballard.

The 90,000 square-foot, five-story facility, which will be located on Tallman Ave. N.W. near Market Street, is scheduled to be open in the fall of 2010.

The building will house:

  • A new, expanded emergency department
  • An expanded medical imaging center
  • A primary-care clinic and offices
  • Office space for an array of specialty physicians

  • General surgery
  • Childbirth care
  • Addiction recovery
  • Outpatient rehabilitation therapy
  • Outpatient cancer care
  • Outpatient Medical imaging, including mammography

Swedish is working jointly on the project and will share ownership with Minneapolis-based Frauenshuh HealthCare Real Estate Solutions (www.frauenshuh.com).

Callison (www.callison.com) is the architecture firm and Mortensen Construction (www.mortenson.com) is the general contractor on the project.
