West Nile virus arrives early in western Washington
Washington state health officials report that West Nile virus has been detected in a crow in western Washington.
Last year, the virus was not detected in the western half of the state until September.
Health officials are concerned that the appearance of the virus earlier in the summer may indicate that the virus will be more active this year raising the risk of human infections.
