Free Prostate Cancer Screening
Virginia Mason in partnership with ZERO: The Project to End Prostate Cancer and KOMO4, will host a mobile free prostate cancer testing program Thursday, July 9 in Seattle and Friday, July 10 in Issaquah from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Drive Against Prostate Cancer screening is free, confidential and does not require an appointment or health insurance.
Volunteers will be available to explain the screening process and answer any questions, and Virginia Mason providers will staff the screening.
The screening consists of a simple blood test known as a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and an optional physical exam.
Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Results are confidential and will be sent to patients in three to four weeks.
Patients with high PSA scores will receive a follow-up call from Virginia Mason.
The mobile unit will be located near the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Seneca Street in front of the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason in Seattle.
In Issaquah, the unit will be located in the parking lot of the Virginia Mason Issaquah clinic at 100 NE Gilman Blvd., in Issaquah.
Similar community-benefit prostate cancer screenings like this one have seen at least 500 men seeking the free test and exam.
Additional health information for men and women alike will be available at event locations.
