H1N1 confirmed swine flu cases top 2600 in U.S., 128 cases and one death in Washington state–CDC

 The number of laboratory confirmed cases of the H1N1 swine flu in the U.S. has reached 2,618, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC reports.

To date, there have been three deaths, two in Texas and one in Washington State, the CDC said.

The death of a 30-year-old Washington state man due to complication of a influenza A(H1N1) infection was reported over the weekend. The Snohomish County man, who had a prior heart condition, died last week, Washington state health officials reported. 

Statewide, Washington has had 128 cases of H1N1 flu confirmed by laboratory testing, the CDC reports.

As of Sunday, King County has reported 70 confirmed and 10 probable cases.

H1N1 Cases in King Count from Public Health - Seattle & King CountWorldwide, 30 countries have report a total of 4,694 cases, the World Health Organization says. 1626 of these cases were in Mexico, WHO says, and Canada reports 284 cases.

Mexico reports 45 H1N1-related deaths and Canada and Costa Rica report one death each, WHO reports.

WHO says the countries reporting cases but no deaths are:

Argentina (1), Australia (1), Austria (1), Brazil (8), China (2, comprising 1 in China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and 1 in mainland China), Colombia (3), Denmark (1), El Salvador (4), France (13), Germany (11), Guatemala (1), Ireland (1), Israel (7), Italy (9), Japan (4), Netherlands (3), New Zealand (7), Norway (2), Panama (15), Poland (1), Portugal (1), Republic of Korea (3), Spain (95), Sweden (2), Switzerland (1) and the United Kingdom (47).
