787 cases of influenza A/H1N1 diagnosed worldwide 16 suspected cases in King County
According to the World Health Organization, 787 cases of influenza A/H1N1, the “swine flu”, have been identified in 17 different countries.
Mexico has reported the most confirmed cases, 506, including 19 deaths.. The U.S. is second with 160 confirmed cases and one death.
Canada has report identifying the new virus in a herd of swine in Alberta, but, in a twist, health authorities there think it is probable that the pig caught the infection from a Canadian farm worker who had recently returned from Mexico, WHO says.
No cases of a human contracting the infection from a pig have yet been identified.
To date, 16 suspected cases have been identified in King County. A total of 25 suspected but as yet unconfirmed cases have been identified statewide.
