In today’s Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the paper’s Capitol Correspondent Chris McGann compares the health plans of Washington gubernatorial candidates Chris Gregoire and Dino Rossi.
“Gov. Gregoire thinks healthcare is a right, not a perk,” according to Gregoire’s website, “and she is taking on the challenge of keeping our children and families healthy.” The campaign website contains relatively little about Gregoire’s health-care reform proposals, but more is available on the Governor’s official state site.
On his website, Dino Rossi says the incumbent Gov. Christine Gregoire ”has been too focused on bureaucratic solutions and has failed to act decisively to make health insurance more affordable for all people in Washington.”

Under new rules, Medicare will no longer pay hospitals for care needed because of medical errors. In her regular column, Dr Carolyn Clancy, director of the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, says the new rules should help make hospitals safer and improve the quality of hospital care.
